Serving Dinner to a Ghost is 1000 Times Better than Sitting in a Bangalore Traffic Jam
What in the world can be scarier than a ghost? For me, it is the traffic here in Bangalore. The notoriously frustrating traffic jams are well-known as it ranked 2nd out of more than 400 cities in the world. Why wouldn't it be when it is considered the sixth most congested city in the world?
The city is stuck in traffic and it gets worse day by day. And it has really worsened the lives of everyday citizens in Bangalore. At first, I didn't believe this but it all came true with my real experience.
How Do Bangaloreans Spoil Most of Their Time in Traffic Jams?
Being a resident of Bangalore, something that I've always hated the most here is the traffic jams. From people showing hands while crossing the road to daydreaming in traffic, it's all congested. And the moment the signal turns green, these people disappear in seconds raising their accelerator. Even the buses here lead to traffic jams by stopping without any indication.
Simply put, the traffic here is really a mess and walking are better than driving. Around thousands of vehicles are registered daily in the city. Something that is most annoying about Bangalore is that people are unable to move even when the signal turns green. It doesn't end here. There are honkers who just keep honking, even on empty roads.
There have been countless incidents when I got stuck in traffic while going to or from my office. I feel pity for people waiting for public transport, sweating due to heat, road blockage clearing out in hours and whatnot. Thank God! The office cab comes to pick me up and drop me off. Else, I would have been buried under the traffic by this time.
Which Days have the Highest Traffic Congestion?
Due to the severe traffic congestion, I would say Friday is the ideal day of the week to avoid driving. It takes around 37 minutes and 20 seconds to drive 10 kilometres on Fridays between 6 and 7 p.m., compared to the whole workweek. Also as the day goes on from morning to evening, the average traffic jam grows by an hour every time. It takes 25 minutes and 37 minutes to travel 10 km around 8 am and 6 in the evening. Overall, the busiest days of the week for traffic congestion are Fridays as well as Saturdays.
Which Places are the Most Crowded in Bangalore?
Bangalore traffic is spread in every area and at every time. More than 3,500 vehicles are registered daily as per the sources. However, the roads you should definitely avoid are Jayanthigram Circle, Vaddara Palya junction, K R Puram, Eco world, Geddalahalli railway bridge, Silk Board, Kalyananagara under the bridge, Mekhri Circle, Outer Ring road, Marathalli, and Sarjapur main road. Wondering how congested it can be? Here is what you need to know.
•Sarjapur
To cover 2 km here, it takes around 40 to 45 minutes. The rough hours are around 7.30 to 10 a.m. Source. It takes around 2 kilometres to reach Sarjapur Police Station to Koramangala-100 feet road. The entire journey takes about two hours. Source.
•Outer Ring Road
For daily office goers who travel more than 5 Km, it takes around 40 to 45 minutes to reach Outer Ring Road. Sometimes it also takes 60 minutes, given the traffic jam.
•CBD
In the CBD, it takes a Bangalorean on average 29 minutes and 10 seconds to travel 10 kilometres. That is what became the news sometime back.
•Metropolitan- Bengalureans in the metropolitan area need around 40 minutes to go 10 kilometres. They generally spend more than 15 minutes on each 10-kilometre travel during the morning rush and more than 20 minutes per 10-kilometre trip during the evening rush. Check out the statistics here.
So yes, I would definitely prefer serving dinner to a Ghost instead of sitting in a traffic jam. And I feel, all of you have the same feeling, Yes or No?
